Moved
So I’m all moved in. Posting my address on the web is probably not the brightest idea, so send me an email if you’re interested.
Anyway, I’m just on the edge of Yaletown and I’m loving my view. It’s a one bedroom place with a solarium on the 17th floor. To the northeast I can see the library, to the west is the Wall Centre. To the north are the buildings in the financial district, the Hotel Vancouver, and of course the North Shore Mountains.
I really need to get a digital camera or stick my webcam out the window.
It’s nice being in Yaletown. The West End is starting to get a little old and tired. With the biggest problem being that homeless people end up spending the night in the neighbourhood. There are tons of little secluded spots and parks for them to crash in. Break-ins are a problem too. None of the underground parking is secured, so you are better off parking on the street.
Here’s hoping that Woodwards and social housing on South East False Creek improves the situation.
The nightlife is certainly better over here. I’m steps away from Granville Street. Granville gets really touristy especially on Friday and Saturday. A lot of frustrated suburbanites that want to drink and get into trouble. They are mostly harmless but very annoying.
There was a Canucks game last night and Granville turned into a sausage factory after GM Place emptied out. So ladies, if you’re looking for a gentleman head downtown after a Canucks game and maybe you’ll find someone semi-sober.
There are tons smaller places in Yaletown that are great. I went to a small jazz bar named Capones last weekend with a few friends. We bumped into Robin Williams on the way in. I really wanted to leave the poor guy alone, but my friend asked him for a picture. I had seen him earlier on in the day on Robson and everybody was pointing and staring like he was a zoo animal.
I don’t really get the concept of celebrity.
I guess I should mention how the move went. I ended up hiring ABC Moving. I was the last move out of the day on February 28th and the first move in of the day on March 1st. They ended up storing my stuff in their truck overnight.
