About Me
WHO?
Hi. I am Parveen Kaler. I live in beautiful Vancouver, BC. If you live or work in downtown Vancouver, you have probably seen me before. I don’t get off the peninsula quite as often as I should.
I was originally born in Quesnel, BC and moved to Vancouver to attend Simon Fraser University. I completed a Bachelors of Science in Computing Science from SFU. I have been living here in Vancouver for about a decade now.
WHAT?
I am currently employed by Slant Six Games. We are a 2nd-party studio that is currently working on SOCOM series of games for the Sony PSP and PS3. “2nd-party studio” is fancy game-developer speak that means that we are an independent development studio that develops titles exclusively for Sony. It’s a pretty sweet gig.
In the past, I worked at Relic Entertainment. I worked on Company of Heroes for the PC and The Outfit for the XBox 360.
WHY?
There are a few reasons that I blog.
I blog to improve my writing skills. The best way to write well is to write a lot.
I blog to keep my friends, family, and fans informed. I don’t think I have any fans and I’m definitely not famous. I do have delusions of grandeur and that is what is important.
I blog to disseminate knowledge. Game development is a craft. In the past, lore has been passed from one generation of developer to the next generation in an ad hoc manner. We can not rely on war stories, paper cuts, and bug fixes as methods of improving the games that we make.
SUBSTANCE
A passionate life is the best life that can be lived. I will be blogging about my passions in life.
I am passionate about games as art, game development, my community, personal development, weight training, and my motorcycle. From time to time I may diverge from these topics.

The best way to reach me is email.
